Financing Your Insulation Project
Insulation is one of the few home improvements that starts paying for itself immediately. Here is how to think about paying for it.
Talk to us at the estimate
Financing options change, and so do the state and utility programs that sit alongside them. Rather than publish terms that may be out of date by the time you read them, we go through what is actually available when we give you your written estimate. Call (484) 989-7314 and ask.
Three ways people pay for this work
Efficiency program financing
State and utility efficiency programs frequently offer loans or on-bill financing for qualifying measures, and insulation and air sealing usually qualify. Terms are often better than general home improvement credit because the program exists to get the work done. See our offers and programs page for what runs in each of our service areas.
Rebates first, then the balance
Where a rebate covers part of the project, the amount you actually need to finance is smaller than the estimate total. It is worth establishing what you qualify for before arranging anything, which is one more reason the free assessment comes first.
Staging the work
You do not have to do everything at once. We sequence a whole-home scope by payback, so it is entirely reasonable to do the air sealing and the attic now and the walls next year. The estimate breaks it out so you can see where the line falls.
What insulation returns
We will not quote you a payback percentage sight unseen, because it depends on what you have now, your climate and your fuel costs. What we will do is show you, in writing, what is deficient and by how much, so the numbers you are weighing are your numbers and not an industry average.
Frequently asked questions
Do you offer financing?
Ask when you get your estimate and we will go through the options that are current at the time. Call (484) 989-7314 and we will tell you what is available for your project before you commit to anything.
Does insulation qualify for an energy efficiency loan?
In several programs, yes. Insulation and air sealing are standard qualifying measures for state and utility efficiency financing, which often carries better terms than general home improvement credit. We can point you at the ones that apply in your state.
What do you need from me to discuss financing?
The written estimate, which tells you the total, and a recent utility bill, which most efficiency programs ask for. We produce the estimate at the free assessment.
Is there a cost to ask?
No. The assessment and the estimate are free, and discussing how you pay for the work does not change either.
